FAMILY PEER ADVOCATE-COMMUNITY BASED CLINICAL SERVICES PROGRAM

Salary range:   $42,500 -$45,000 (40 hours per week)

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Community Based Clinical, the family peer advocate will be responsible for supplying advocacy and outreach services for the clients and families of St. Anne Institute while exuding cultural competency and sensitivity. 

Responsibilities:

Home visits, school visits and other outreach efforts as indicated and in consultation with supervisor to support the client’s optimal functioning.

Coach and model shared decision making and skills that support collaboration, in addition to providing opportunities for families to self-advocate.

Serve as a bridge between families and service providers.  Support productive, respectful partnership by assisting families to express their strengths, needs and goals.

Provide psycho-educational services to educate clients and community members about mental illness, child abuse, substance abuse and other community resources.

Requirements and Education:

High school diploma; strong verbal skills to communicate with colleagues and allied professionals in and outside the agency; ability to work collaboratively and effectively as a team member and maintain confidentiality; experience being a parent of a child with specials needs navigating systems, facilitating linkage to additional services and attending Committee on Special Educations meetings preferred; valid driver’s license required.
