On Halloween, Blue Heart hosted the first Annual SAI Staff Halloween Costume Contest. Many staff participated and we gave out gift certificates to the Scariest Costume (Deb Desautels - Dietary), Funniest Costume(Christie Bickley - Clinical), and a Pizza Lunch to the Best Group Costume (1st Floor School - Education)
Albany County Family Court Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary of the Adult Treatment Court and 16 Year Anniversary of the Juvenile Treatment Court with an Offsite Potluck Picnic on October 20, 2022

Sue Kushner, Presiding Judge of both Albany County Family Court’s Treatment Courts and Coordinator Craig Richards and Case Manager Jaquay Jones, celebrates with combined adult and juvenile participants at St. Anne’s Conference Center. The Judge, participants, and Team Members made and brought delicious hot and cold dishes to share and celebrate the long tenure of both Courts and to reinforce the sense of family embodied in them. The St. Anne Institute Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Richard Hucke as the agency’s new Chief Executive Officer/President, effective Feb. 1, 2021. Mr. Hucke comes to St. Anne’s from a career at the Jewish Child Care Association (JCCA), a comprehensive multi-service child welfare agency. Among his experience is revitalizing residential treatment center programs, successful transition to Medicaid Managed Care, developing collaborative external relationships, and grants and fundraising.
Former CEO/President Anthony Cortese retired from the agency at the end of 2020 after eight years. The Board of Trustees thanks Mr. Cortese for his leadership and service, wishing him a long and happy retirement. Chief Operating Officer Theresa Gabriel served as interim CEO from January 1-31, 2021.
St. Anne Institute has announced that it has received a grant from - MVP Health Care to purchase Personal Protective Equipment(PPE). The equipment will be purchased to protect St. Anne Institute employees from COVID-19.
“We appreciate MVP stepping forward to help St. Anne’s in this very trying and challenging time,: said Tony Cortese, CEO at St. Anne Institute. “We thank them for their commitment as non-profit organizations struggle through this pandemic to keep their employees and clients safe.”
“As a health insurance company, it is our duty to do everything we can to support our communities as they navigate this unprecedented crisis,” said MVP Health Care’s Vice President for Community Engagement, Ellen Sax. “We are proud to support the purchase of the PPE for St. Anne Institute as they navigate keeping their staff safe and healthy while at the same time, providing vital support to the community.”
The PPE, such as masks and gloves, will be given to all employees and clients and as St. Anne Institute continues to provide high quality therapeutic, residential, educational and preventative services to the Albany community
The Genesis Pod at SAI discussed current events this week along with the start of Pride month. The girls were encouraged to have tough and uncomfortable conversations to better understand a variety of injustices in our society.
St. Anne Institute has received $2,000.00 from the Stewart’s/Dake Family for COVID-19 relief. The funds will be used to develop and implement a telehealth/therapy program utilizing technology and staff in a way to expand and improve healthcare, offer convenience, promote access, and support sustainability.
(Albany) St. Anne Institute has received a $125,000 grant from the Carl E. Touhey Foundation. The funds will be used, over a three year period, to expand St. Anne’s Youth Shelter from eight to twelve beds, offset the salary of a case manager that will create targeted services to provide Early Intervention as well as continuing After Care Services to St. Anne’s clients, and a part-time consultant will be hired to set-up a telehealth system which will allow clients more frequency of service that will provide an increase in health and lower healthcare costs.
