 Description of Duties:

St. Anne Institute is currently seeking Lifeguards to maintain constant supervision of students in the pool area; ensuring the safety of students by preventing and responding to emergencies.

·        Maintain NYS Department of Health records and ensure NYS Department of Health requirements are met.

·        Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. Administer emergency First Aid and CPR, as necessary.

·        Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and relate to a wide variety of students.

·        Perform various duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe environment. Keep deck free of obstructions.

·        Communicate safety concerns with Program Administrators, managers, or supervisors.

Qualifications:

·        Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification, or equivalent; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for rescue required; First Aid certification required.

·        CPR Instructor certification preferred; Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred.

·        Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

·        Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.

·        Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.

Agency & Behavioral Support Coordinator - Overnights

Full Time 40 hours/week

Description of Duties:

St. Anne Institute is currently seeking a full-time, overnight Agency & Behavioral Support Coordinator to provide support, coordination and training across programs and to ensure a safe and therapeutic treatment milieu. The ABS Coordinator will serve as a role model by demonstrating professional skill and adherence to agency policy and procedures.

 Support and Coordination

•Provide agency staff with guidance in the performance of their duties.

•Ensure implementation of the SAI Behavior Management Policy.

•Assist in the coordination of staff assignments for transportation and additional supervision needs across the agency as needed.

•Answer or re-direct phone calls to appropriate staff.

•Coordinate the debriefing of critical incidents, as needed.

•Manage off-grounds and in-house visits.

•Accept and store packages for staff and youth.

•Schedule and secure vehicles for outings and emergencies.

•Assist the Medical Clinic with the scheduling of medical appointments/ hospital supervision.

•Manage after-hours emergency placements for the Shelter and Crisis Respite Program.

Security

•Communicate with Administrators & Managers to ensure the safety of clients and staff.

•Structure and facilitate emergency evacuations & situations

•Oversee crisis situations and direct staff in crisis situations to ensure safety.

•Assist outside visitors and families when they arrive and direct them to appropriate areas.  This includes but is not limited to the police, mobile crisis, fire department, CDPC, AMC and placing agencies.

•Conduct frequent agency checks to ensure agency safety.

•Ensure immediate post-crisis response is conducted according to TCI standards.

Agency Documentation

•Maintain an accurate and current daily log/ census/ list of outings.

•Input all necessary documentation into our electronic health record.

 Risk Management

•Complete and compile internal incident reports

•Assist agency staff in reporting incidents to the New York State Justice Center.

•Assist in the development and implementation of safety plans.

•Conduct risk assessments on identified youth, including homicidal and suicidal ideation and the Commercial Exploitation of Children risk assessments.

•File all Missing Persons Reports and notify the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Training

•Provide assistance, support, consultation, and training to staff using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Individual Crisis Support Plans and/or Behavior Intervention Plans.

•Maintain Certification as a Trainer for TCI through Cornell University as scheduled.

•Demonstrate effective skills, direction, and coaching to agency staff regarding crisis prevention, crisis management, problem solving, and effective supervision. This will require ABS staff to be mobile.

•Facilitate Restorative Justice circle training.

Qualifications:

Minimum 6 months working with children and families with mental health/behavioral health issues, preferably in a residential treatment setting; proficiency in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong computer skills.

 Description of Duties:

St. Anne Institute is currently seeking full- time Teacher Assistants to assist teachers in assigned instructional area and in the management of individual and small group activities.

Ensure a safe, secure and trauma-sensitive classroom environment for all students.

·        Work with the assigned teacher in accordance with general classroom guidelines.

·        Teach assigned subjects in the prescribed manner under the supervision of a certified teacher, using the New York State syllabus and appropriate curriculum program as a guide.

·        Utilize instructional strategies that meet the differentiated learning styles of students.

Runaway Homeless Youth (RHY) / Respite Case Manager

Full Time 40 hours/week

 St. Anne Institute:  Bishop Howard J. Hubbard Hall is an emergency shelter open 24/7/365 to any youth, male or female, ages 13-17 who is a runaway, homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or in an otherwise unsafe situation.

Description of Duties:

St. Anne Institute is currently seeking a full-time RHY/ Respite Case Manager to provide case management services to shelter clients, runaway homeless and street involved youth. This position will work with youth to find adequate, long-term housing and prevent the sexual abuse or exploitation of young people living on the streets or in unstable housing.

·        Provide individual assessments on each youth and develop service plans; help them set goals and identify the necessary steps to reach those goals. (Housing, employment, etc.)

·        Establish/strengthen linkages with schools, community businesses, community providers, parks, law enforcement, health providers, churches, schools and shelters.

·        Complete the intake/admissions process for all potential shelter residents.

·        Transport youth in the authorized SAI van to medical services or appointments

·        Use Harm-Reduction, Positive Youth Development (PYD) and Trauma-Informed Care as the philosophical foundation of interventions and strategies.

·        Attend community meetings and collaborate with service providers, schools, homelessness coalition or services focused on RHY.

·        Assist with the development and sustaining of the Youth Advisory Board.

·        Act as primary liaison contact and provide regular ongoing case coordination with community agencies, landlords, public assistance, children and youth agencies, families and probation departments.

 Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree in human services field preferred

•Experience in working with at-risk and or homeless youth

•Education or experience in cultural competency

•Familiarity with Albany County resources preferred

•Commitment to issues of diversity and inclusion, including race, class, gender, and sexual orientation and gender identity, and sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences

•Valid, clean NYS driver’s license

•Comfortable interacting with youth in informal/non-traditional settings

The St. Anne Institute Residential Services program is a 24-hour trauma-sensitive therapeutic milieu which serves young women ages 12-21 in a structured, supervised setting.

Description of Duties:

Residential Services is currently seeking Residential Counselors and Overnight Childcare Workers to create a safe, secure, trauma-sensitive environment while helping residents gain self-control and develop positive social skills.

·        Implement agency practices including policies, procedures, unit routine and expectations, as directed by Program Manager, Senior Residential Counselors or Admin staff.

·        Provide vigilant supervision of residents and provide opportunities to teach and role model, during all aspects of routine. “Routine” refers to recreational activities, group meetings, meals, bedtimes, and any additional program activities.

·        Facilitate group meetings and activities, both on and off campus, including outings.

·        Foster appropriate adult/child relationships; maintain appropriate boundaries.

·        Attend training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and use the techniques to prevent and intervene in crisis situations, which may include physical intervention when needed.

·        Abide by the NYS Justice Center and the SAI Codes of Conduct/Ethics.

Qualifications:

Residential Counselor (evenings): BA or BS in field of Human Services preferred; 2 years in related area required.

Child Care Worker (overnight): HS or equivalent required, BA or BS in field of Human

Services preferred. For both, experience may substitute for degree.
