JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. TITLE:                                    Utility Staff – Dietary Services
  1. SUPERVISOR:                       Coordinator – Dietary Services
  1. HOURS PER WEEK:             31 Hours
  1. QUALIFICATIONS:              High School Diploma preferred, some experience in

Food Services preferred.

  1. REQUIREMENTS:                Physically able to put away stock up to 80-lbs. and carry a full

10-gallon stockpot.

  1. FUNCTION:                           To assist the Coordinator and cooks with the daily organization

and operation of the agency Dietary Services Department.

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cleaning/Housekeeping

  • Perform any combination of the following duties to maintain kitchen work areas and ensure equipment and utensils are clean and orderly:
    • Sweep and mop floors in both kitchen and dining room as described in kitchen regulations
    • Empty grease trap(s) weekly
    • Wash work tables, walls, refrigerators/coolers/freezers, appliances, dining room tables and chairs as needed
    • Segregate and remove trash and garbage and place it in designated containers
    • Hose out garbage cans
    • Wash pots, pans and trays
    • Scrape food from dirty dishes and food trays and wash them in dishwashing machine

Inventory

  • Perform any combination of following duties to maintain stock/supplies:
    • Help transfer food bank food/supplies from truck/van to appropriate storeroom/cooler/freezer
    • Date and stock food supplies in appropriate store room/cooler/freezer.
    • Ensure that stock is rotated appropriately
    • Assemble daily food orders for units

General

  • Participate in all in-services and trainings as required/scheduled, including 16 hours towards the Professional Standards training requirements
  • Abide by the NYS Justice Center and the SAI Codes of Conduct/Ethics
  • Perform any duty assigned/required by the Dietary Services Coordinator or Cooks.
