Sharon Cruz "Educator of the Week"
On 1/20/10 Elaine Houston from Channel 13 news came into St. Anne Institute to interview Sharon Cruz who was selected by Channel 13 as "Educator of the Week". Sharon does more than teach Food/Nutrition and Intro to Technology and Human Awareness, she instills a sense of community to our students. Our young women with the teachings of Mrs. Cruz constantly give back to the community with volunteer work. They have cooked meals at the Salvation Army for families who are struggling with hardship. Sharon and her students volunteer their time at the Blessed Sacrament thrift shop and food pantry, Vincentian Institute food pantry, Cathedral food pantry, and the St. John-St.Anne outreach center.
Sharon is also the Senior Class Advisor in charge of fundraising. This helps students raise money for such things as their senior rings, a field trip, and dresses for graduation. Sharon has worked at St. Anne’s for twenty five years; she is committed and caring to her students. She is very deserving of this award and we are very proud of her.
