Albany Marriott Sponsors St. Anne lnstitute’s Dinner

Executive Chef Nathan Kutzscher Provided Interactive Dessert Tutorial for Participants

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Albany Marriott kicked off the New Year by sponsoring a Cafe Night Tuesday, January 9th for 45 young women at St. Anne Institute in Albany, New York. Cafe Night dinners are a monthly event at the institute to reward the young women, encouraging positive academic and behavioral performance. The young women ranged in age from 12 to 21 years old.
“At the Albany Marriott, we do our best to be good corporate partners and give back to the community,” said Stephen Schifley, “St. Anne Institute offers top emotional, physical and spiritual care to young people going through trying times. We are thrilled to give back to a great cause in this way.”
This month’s “New Year” themed Cafe Night was prepared by eight participating young women who helped by plating and serving the meals. Albany Marriott’s Executive Chef, Nathan Kutzscher, trained participants on how to create his signature dessert, a raspberry torte in a puff pastry on a painted plate. The young women who prepared the meal are part of St. Anne’s Work Experience Program, which started with the intention of teaching and cultivating real world employment skills among St. Anne residents, while fostering financial literacy, commitment to obligation, teamwork and community service.
“We certainly appreciate the Albany Marriott for the opportunity to teach our students an extra set of culinary skills,” said Darlene Suto, director of development and community relations, St. Anne Institute, “We do our best to provide our young women with experiences that will set them up for success in the workplace.”
The Albany Marriott Director of Sales and Marketing, Stephen Schifley, is also the Board President of the St. Anne Foundation. As ambassadors of the local hospitality industry, the Albany Marriott encourages its staff to give back to St. Anne Institute and other community causes regularly.
